Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry changes how your teeth look, their colour, shape, size or position, or the gaps between them. It starts with what you want to change and, wherever it can, a preview before anything is done.

Start with what you want to change

Cosmetic treatment begins with a conversation, not a catalogue. What do you notice when you smile in a photograph? Colour, a chipped edge, a gap, a crooked tooth, old crowns that no longer match? The answer decides the treatment, and often the simplest option does more than people expect.

The gentlest option first

Some cosmetic treatments leave your teeth exactly as they are, such as whitening and clear aligners. Others, such as veneers and crowns, remove some enamel and cannot be undone. We set out the options in that order, so you only go as far as you need to.

Healthy first, then beautiful

Decay, gum disease and bite problems are treated before cosmetic work, because whitening sensitive teeth or bonding veneers to unhealthy gums leads to trouble. Your plan says if anything needs doing first.

See it before you decide

For larger changes, a digital smile design plans the new teeth on photographs of your face and lets you try a mock-up in your mouth. You decide with the preview in front of you.

Treatments in cosmetic dentistry

  • Smile makeover

A smile makeover brings several treatments, such as whitening, aligners, veneers, crowns or implants, into one plan, in an order where each step sets up the next.

    • Several, planned in stages
    • A few weeks to several months, depending on the plan

    Cost range on request

  • Digital smile design

Digital smile design plans a cosmetic change on photographs, video and scans of your own face and teeth, then lets you try a preview in your mouth before any tooth is touched.

    • 2 visits before any treatment
    • A preview to try within a week or two

    Cost range on request

  • Ceramic veneers

A ceramic veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth to change its colour, shape or size. It usually needs a small amount of enamel removed, so it is a long-term decision.

    • 2 or 3 visits, usually

    Cost range on request

  • Teeth whitening

Whitening lightens the natural colour of your teeth with a peroxide gel, either in the chair at the clinic or at home with trays made for your mouth. It does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings.

    • 1 visit in the clinic, or trays to use at home
    • Lighter the same day in the clinic; over a few weeks at home

    Cost range on request

  • Clear aligners

Clear aligners are a series of thin, removable plastic trays, each shaped to move your teeth a little further. You change to the next set every week or two until the teeth reach their planned position.

    • 6 to 18 months, worn 20 to 22 hours a day

    Cost range on request

  • Invisible braces

Invisible braces are fixed braces that are hard to see, either bonded behind the teeth where they are hidden from view, or tooth-coloured brackets on the front. Unlike aligners, they stay in all the time.

    • A check every 4 to 8 weeks
    • 1 to 3 years, depending on the case

    Cost range on request

Ask on WhatsApp
Is cosmetic dentistry only about looks?

Mostly, but not only. Straighter teeth are easier to clean, and replacing worn or broken teeth can improve chewing. Health comes first in every plan.

Will it look natural?

The aim is teeth that look like yours on a good day, not a row of identical white tiles. Shade and shape are planned around your face, and you see a preview first.

Which treatment is right for me?

It depends on what you want to change. Colour alone may need only whitening. Crooked teeth may need aligners. Shape and size together may need veneers. The consultation sorts out which.

Can I see the result before deciding?

For veneers and smile makeovers, yes, with a digital smile design and a mock-up in your mouth. For whitening, we show the expected shade range.
